Grown as ornamental plant. They are used internally in the
treatment of excessive and painful menstruation, cystitis, venereal diseases,
feverish illnesses, bronchial catarrh, coughs and to promote hair growth.

Key Botanical Characters:
Shrubs, to 4 m
high; stems woody and glabrous. Leaves alternate, ovate to ovate-lanceolate,
truncate or somewhat tapering at base, serrate, crenate or entire. Flower
axillary, solitary; pedicels 2-8 cm long, jointed above middle, glabrous or
pubescent. Epicalyx lobes 5-8, connate at base, lanceolate, sparsely stellate-pubescent. Calyx campanulate; lobes connate to
middle, lanceolate, stellateand glandular-pilose outside.
Corolla infundibular, red, white, pink, yellow or orange
yellow; petals obovate and entire. Staminal column exserted
beyond corolla, antheriferous in upper half. Capsules oblong-rounded .
