Key botanical characters: Rhizome
0.8-1.2 cm thick, creamy white, covered with pink sheaths. Leafy shoots
118-120 cm high, erect. Leaves 32-37 in number, 2.2-4 cm apart, sessile;
ligule entire, ovate, light green, pubescent externally; lamina lanceolate,
dark green above, purple below, glabrous on either sides. Inflorescence
terminal, erect, racemose; peduncle 1.2-1.4 cm long, green. Bract single,
dark red, tubular, membraneous, pubescent externally, glabrous internally cincinnus
1-flowered. Flowers 2.9-3.4 cm long, white, erect, one opens at a time.
Labellum 3.5-4 x c. 3.5 mm, subulate, highly reduced, creamy white,
pubescent, densely pubescent at base, fleshy. |
