Fruit juice is used for scurvy, dyspepsia, flatulence, constipation, Scabies, Vomiting, Cough and bronchitis.
Key botanical characters:
Small armed trees. Leaves, ovate-lanceolate, apex obtuse, coriaceous, dentate; Flowers axillary, in clusters, cymes or solitary, white; calyx cupular, 3-5-fid; petals 4-8; stamens 20 or more, filaments unequal, variously fused; ovary many celled, 4-8 ovules in each cell, style 1 mm, stigma capitate. Berry globose, fleshy, rind leathery and the juice is acrid.
