Leaves and flowers used in nephropathy, cough, dysentery, worm trouble and fever. Bark is purgative.
Key botanical characters: 
Trees, Leaves simple, alternate, distichous. Flowers yellowish-green,solitary, axillary or from mature branches;sepals 3, triangular persistent; petals 6(3+3) ovate-acute, yellow, thick, glabrous. Stamens many, long, linear. Fruits ovoid to obovoid, green, covered with curved spines, stout; seeds many, reddish brown.
