Key botanical characters:   Rhizome ovoid, internally light yellowish. Leaf lamina oblong-ovate, 8-20 x 5-9 cm; petiole 3-10 cm long; ligule 2-3 mm long, bilobed. Inflorescence lateral. Spike c. 2.5-6 x 2-4.5 cm. Fertile bracts green or with dark red tinge, coma absent. Flowers 5-6.5 cm long. Corolla lobes white to yellow. Lateral staminodes white or yellow. Labellum white with or without yellow center. Fruits globose, c. 1x 1 cm, seeds light brown, arillate.
