Botanical Characters:
Rhizomatous herbs, rhizome 6-8 mm thick. Leaves
elliptic-oblong, acute or obtuse, base subcordate or rounded, glabrous and
shortly tomentose along the nerves beneath; petiole to 13 cm long. Peduncle
to 2.5 cm long. Spathe to 4 cm long, basal tubular portion 1.5 cm long,
white, limb ovate acuminate, dark purple; spadix with an ovate sterile
appendage. Syncarpium enclosed by the persistent cupular base of the spathe.
Berry ovoid, 4- angled, with spinous warts along the walls.
