Anticancer, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antihepatotoxic.
Key botanical characters:
Cormous herbs. Leaves simple, rarely divided, ovate, base cordate, apex acute, chartaceous. Spathe 6-15 cm long, tubular below, mouth constricted, expanded above into an apically twisted limb; spadix exerted; male and female flowers widely separated, neuter flowers just above the female, heteromorphic; ovary 1-locular; ovules 1-2, basal. Berry ovoid. Seeds 1 or 2, globose.
