Key botanical
characters: Rhizomes creamy white inside, slightly aromatic. Leafy shoot cylindric, 1-1.2
m tall. Leaves sessile, lamina lanceolate, deep green above and purple-red
beneath, glabrous; ligule 1.5-1. 7 cm long, apex obtuse, pink,
pubescent abaxially, closely appressed to the stem. Inflorescence a terminal spike, 8-10.5 cm long. Bracts moderately dense,
coriaceous, pubescent externally, deep pink with green at base. Flowers 2 in
each bract, 8-8.3 cm long, deep-red. |
