Key Botanical Characters:
Emergent annual herbs. Aerial leaves opposite or verticillate, elliptic to oblong, base sub-amplexicaul, margin serrulate, apex subacute, glabrous, 3-nerved from base, sessile; submerged leaves multifid with capillary segments up to 4 cm long. Flowers solitary, sessile or sub-sessile in the upper axils. pale pink, throat sparsely pilose; upper lip 2-lobed, , lower lip 3-lobed. Stamens 4, included, didynamous. Capsule  ellipsoid. Seeds angular, brown.
