Key botanical characters:  

Rhizome creamy internally. Leaf lamina elliptic-lanceolate, 35-60 x 10-16 cm, green; petiole 7-25 cm; ligule 2-3 mm long, bilobed. Inflorescence terminal. Spike c. 10 x 7-9 cm, all bracts bright red to light red, coma absent. Flowers 6 cm long. Corolla lobes light yellow orange with red tinge. Lateral staminodes yellow-orange. Labellum yellow-orange with deep yellow-orange at centre.
