Key botanical characters:

Rhizome 4–5 cm wide, creamy white internally, slightly aromatic. Leafy shoot 60–160 cm high, erect, robust. Leaves sessile; lamina 45–62.5 x 10–17.3 cm, broadly lanceolate, dark green and glabrous above, pale green and densely pilose below; margin undulate, membranous. Inflorescence 13–35 cm long, conical, dense, erect. Bracts 4–6.1 x 2.3–3.7 cm, ovate, green, glabrous, pubescent towards tip margins, coriaceous, convolute; cincinnus 2–8 -flowered. Flower 11.2–12 cm long, white with creamy yellow blotch at centre of labellum, many flowers open at a time, ascending, slightly fragrant.
