Key Botanical Characters:

Tufted herbs, rootstock creeping. Leaves both radical and cauline, to 6 x 0.3 cm, terete, hollow, septate; sheath to 2 cm, open, auricled. Cymes terminal, corymbose, 10-15 cm; bracts 1.5 mm, ovate, acuminate. Outer perianth lobes concave, 3 mm, lanceolate, acute, hyaline; filaments 1.5 mm. Ovary 0.8 mm, one celled, many ovuled, stigma 3-lobed, linear, twisted. Capsule 3 mm, prismatic.
