Key botanical characters:

Rhizome 2.6ā€“3 cm wide, creamy white internally, pale pink externally, slightly aromatic. Leafy shoot 100ā€“120 cm high, slanting. Leaves sessile; lamina 44ā€“50.5 x 7ā€“8.3 cm, elliptic, dark green and puberulent above, pale green and pubescent below; margin membranous, translucent. Inflorescence 11.5ā€“14.6 cm long, elliptic, dense, erect, compact with imbricate bracts. Bracts 5.5ā€“5.7 x 2.9ā€“3.4 cm, widely ovate, green, glabrous, pubescent towards tip margins, coriaceous, closely imbricate; cincinnus 3ā€“4 -flowered. Flower 15.3ā€“15.7 cm long, white, 5ā€“7 flowers open at a time, ascending, slightly fragrant.
