Key botanical characters: Rhizome
2.6–3 cm wide, creamy white internally, pale pink externally, slightly
aromatic. Leafy shoot 100–120 cm high, slanting. Leaves sessile; lamina
44–50.5 x 7–8.3 cm, elliptic, dark green and puberulent above, pale green and
pubescent below; margin membranous, translucent. Inflorescence 11.5–14.6 cm
long, elliptic, dense, erect, compact with imbricate bracts. Bracts 5.5–5.7 x
2.9–3.4 cm, widely ovate, green, glabrous, pubescent towards tip margins,
coriaceous, closely imbricate; cincinnus 3–4 -flowered. Flower 15.3–15.7 cm
long, white, 5–7 flowers open at a time, ascending, slightly fragrant. |
