Key botanical characters: Stout climbers; stem adpressed tomentose. Leaves to 8 x 9 cm, broadly
ovate to orbicular, nearly entire, abruptly acuminate, cordate at base,
pubescent; nerves 12 pairs; petiole to 8 cm long. Peduncle 8 cm long, stout.
Flower 1 or 2 together; pedicels 3.5 cm long, stout; sepals 1 x 1 cm,
orbicular, outer 3 pubescent outside, growing in fruit; corolla 9 cm long,
lobes acute, pale purple with dark purple at centre, glabrous; filaments
hairy at base. Capsule 2 x 2 cm, globose, glabrous; seeds black, hairy on
