The plant is anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anticancer, antimicrobial,
anti-diabetic and hepatoprotective .

Key Botanical Characters:
Shrubs, branches terete, glabrous. Leaves simple, opposite, acuminate
at both ends, glabrous, nerves 5 pairs, raised above, scabrid; Spikes 1.5 cm long, axillary, solitary,
peduncled; bracts obovate; bracteoles linear-oblong; flowers 5-15. Calyx lobes
oblong, connate below the middle. Corolla white with violet or blue patches
on lower lobes. Staminal sheath hairy.
