Key botanical characters: Rhizome
2.8–3.2 cm wide, white internally, hyaline at margins, slightly aromatic,
covered by brown scales. Leafy shoot
58–88 cm high. Leaves sessile; lamina 29–41 x 8–11.1 cm, elliptic, dark green
and glabrous above, pale green and densely sericeous below, veins raised
after regular intervals; margin highly undulate, membranous. Inflorescence 8.5–12 cm long,
conical-cylindrical, erect; peduncle 5–6 cm wide, pubescent, green. Bracts
2.8–3 x 1.1–1.5 cm, elliptic, green, glabrous, hairy only at the tip,
moderately coriaceous, non-imbricate, convolute, reflexed back, basal 2
empty, navicular; cincinnus 2 or 3-flowered. Flower 10–10.2 (8.2–8.5) cm
long, white with spreading stamen, spreading, many flowers open at a time. |
