Key botanical characters:

Rhizome 2.2–3.4 cm wide, creamy white internally, slightly aromatic. Leafy shoot 116–140 cm high, slightly slanting. Leaves decurved, sessile or very shortly petiolate; lamina 46–50.5 x 7.5–8.7 cm, elliptic, deep glossy green and glabrous above, light green and densely pubescent below; ligule 4–4.4 cm long, single-lobed. Inflorescence 10–12 cm long, erect, lanceolate, compact with imbricate bracts. Bracts imbricate, obovate, coriaceous, green, yellow tinged towards base golden-yellow hairy externally; flowers 3 in each bracts. Flower 15.3–15.6 cm long, sulphur-yellow, slightly fragrant.
