Uses

The crushed bark is used for poulticing persistent ulcers.The leaves are an ingredient of a traditional drug against syphilis.Ornamental.

Key botanical characters :

Tree, up tp 25m height. Young leaves reddish. Mature leaves turn red before dropping.Flowers pendulous, clusters, pinkish-red sepals, frilly white petals. Fruits green, ellipsoid drupe, contains hard stone (seed) with long recurved slender spines.
