Herbs perennial, roots fibrous. Main stem undeveloped, fertile stem 1-5, arising from below the main stem, glabrous or puberulent on 1 side. Basal leaves linear. Infloresence terminal on fertile branches, solitary or 2 to5 forming a panicle or subcapitate; involucral bracts leaflike but smaller than leaves.
