Key botanical characters: Rhizome 1.8–2.6 cm wide,
monopodial branching, pale brown at centre, pale green towards margin. Leafy
shoot 88–116 cm high, slanting. Leaves sessile; lamina 16.2–19.5 x 6.2–7.5
cm, elliptic, dark and glossy green above, persistent purple-red below,
glabrous on both sides. Inflorescence 5.5–10.3 cm long, conical. Bracts
4.1–4.3 x 2–2.2 cm, ovate, reflexed back at tip, green, glabrous on both
sides, moderately coriaceous, reflexed back, imbricate or loosely imbricate;
cincinnus 1 or 2 -flowered. Flower 8.1–8.3 cm long, erect, brick-red, 1–4
flowers open at a time, non-fragrant. |
