Key botanical characters:

Perennial rhizomatous herb. Leaf shoot 1 - 1.5 m high, stem 1.2 m high. Leaves petiolate, petiole 0.3 cm long, glabrous, green; lamina 20 – 21 x 7 – 8 cm sub panduratus, venations pinnately parellel. Inflorescence terminal, spike compact, one flower opened at a time. Bracts numerous, one flower per bract. Flower 5.5 – 6 cm long, lemon yellow.
