Key Botanical Characters  :

Gigantochloa rostrata is an evergreen, perennial, loosely clump-forming bamboo growing 4 - 8 metres tall. The thick-walled, erect, woody culms are 20 - 35mm in diameter with internodes 15 - 30cm Synflorescence bractiferous; clustered at the nodes; in untidy tufts; with glumaceous subtending bracts; with axillary buds at base of spikelet;. Caryopsis with adherent pericarp;
