Key botanical
characters: Rhizome 2-3 cm thick, yellow inside. Leafy shoots erect, covered by leaf
sheaths, 2-3 m high. Leaves sessile, lamina 30-60 × 6-10 cm,
oblong-lanceolate, lower surface pubescent, upper glabrous and dark green;
ligule 2-3 cm, membranous, brown. Inflorescence terminal, solitary erect,
15-20 cm long, dense flowered, more or less elliptic. Bracts oblong green,
glabrous. Flowers 5-6 in each bract, large, white, fragrant. |
