Key botanical characters:

Leaves up to 75-160 cm long; lamina 55 x 6 cm, spathulate, Petiole c. 20 cm long. Flowers solitary or in a few-flowered inflorescence; bracts 4-7 cm long. Sepals 6-10 x 1.5 cm, oblong, with shortly narrowed to apiculate apex, edges ± revolute, dark brown-purple towards apex, olive green with brown veins towards base. Lateral petals whitish.
