Erect or diffuse herbs with fibrous roots. Leaves ovate-lanceolate,
base cordate and semi-amplexicaul, apex acute; sheath c.1 cm long, ciliate at
mouth. Flowers c. 6 mm across, in few-flowered terminal and axillary
panicles; Sepals 3-3.5 mm long,
ovate-oblong. Petals bluish or violet, 3. . Capsule 4-5 mm long, oblong, trigonous;
seeds 3 in each cell, angular, cuboid, rugose, light brown.
