It have the activities such as hepatoprotective, antibacterial, antifungal, anticandidal and larvicidal activity. Its flower part is used in various conditions like fever, headache, aperitif, pain and wound healing.
Key botanical characters:  
Subshrubs. Leaves, elliptic, acute at both ends, usually crowded towards the apex;. Spike terminal or rarely axillary, dense, to 7 cm long; peduncle 5-10 cm long; bracts in 4 rows, lanceolate; bracteoles, linear, acuminate, pubescent. Flowers many, densely packed; calyx lobes 5, unequal, , glandular-hairy, outer one sometimes 2-fid at apex; corolla creamy orange, , narrow, lobes 5, subequal, 1 cm long, oblong, spreading; stamens 4, inserted at the middle of corolla tube, included, filaments unequal, anthers bearded; Capsule, oblong; seeds 4, orbicular.
